Commissioned
artwork for DART Forest/Jupiter Train Station
The
Tree of Tidings is a 25'
x 12' x 12' mixed metal and glass kinetic sculpture located at the entry
platform of the Dallas area Forest/Jupiter train station. It has two
main kinetic elements which revolve in opposing directions.
There are also secondary "twirling"
elements located on each of the five lower branches. The artwork is
designed as a tree, to represent the agricultural past of the area. In
the tradition of a prayer tree or wheel, the body is decorated with
tidings and wishes for a good journey, as well as welcoming phrases in
32 different languages, to greet and send off safely the diverse
cultural population of the area. |
